Bowser Retires From Nintendo

After more than ten years with Nintendo, Doug Bowser, the company’s president, is retiring on December 31st. Devon Pritchard, currently an executive vice president, will be taking over as president.

In a statement released through BusinessWire, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser announced he’s stepping down after ten years, calling it an honor and expressing pride in the team’s achievements. He also voiced his support for Chris Pritchard, his successor, and believes Nintendo of America is well-positioned for fresh leadership.

He announced it was time for new leadership, highlighting Devon’s proven success. He praised her as an outstanding leader whose promotion recognizes her hard work and valuable contributions to the company’s success, and expressed his certainty that she’ll lead the company to continued growth.

According to LinkedIn, Pritchard has worked at Nintendo since June 2006, currently holding the position of Executive Vice President of Revenue, Marketing, and Consumer Experience. She expressed her gratitude for the promotion in a recent press release, stating she’s committed to continuing Nintendo’s tradition of creating enjoyable experiences for fans.

She expressed her excitement and gratitude for the new position. Recognizing the strong guidance she received from Doug, she plans to expand on the success he achieved. Her goal is to continue Nintendo’s tradition of creating enjoyable experiences for existing fans and attracting new players with diverse characters and worlds.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa expressed gratitude to Bowser for all he’s done and shared his confidence that Pritchard will help Nintendo continue bringing joy to people.

Pritchard is joining the Board of Directors at NOA and will be an executive officer. Joining him on the board is Satoru Shibata, a senior Nintendo executive, who will serve as CEO while continuing his existing roles as managing executive officer and corporate director.
