Now that a Legend of Zelda movie is in the works, fans are hoping other Nintendo games will be adapted for film. One YouTuber believes he has a great idea for how to turn Metroid into a movie.
If you follow movies online, you’ve likely come across Chris Struckmann. He’s a YouTuber who’s been reviewing films for over a decade and has built a large following with more than 2 million subscribers.
He’s not just someone who discusses movies anymore; he’s now a filmmaker himself. His debut movie, ‘Shelby Oaks,’ will be released in October.
After successfully creating a well-received project of his own (which we at TopMob found genuinely frightening), Struckmann believes he can adapt Nintendo’s popular sci-fi game series ‘Metroid’ into a film that fans will love.

Chris Struckmann says making Metroid movie is his ‘dream’
I was reading an interview with Struckmann over at Collider from September, and he mentioned he’s really focused on telling his own stories right now. But, he also said he’d totally be up for directing a Metroid movie, which, as a gamer, is awesome to hear!
I’m open to all possibilities,” he said. “I’m really passionate about filmmaking and directing. Ultimately, my biggest goal is to create more original films.
If I could direct a movie based on any video game franchise, I’d choose Metroid. It’s always been a dream of mine, and there isn’t a Metroid movie yet. The thought of bringing that world to the big screen would be amazing. I even have a Samus tattoo,” he added.
I’m a huge fan of that universe – the backstory is incredibly detailed, and I really connect with the main character. However, Nintendo usually goes with directors who have a lot of experience with big-budget CGI films. Despite that, I’d be thrilled to direct a Metroid movie myself.

Recently, we’ve seen a surge of popular video games adapted into movies, including hits like The Minecraft Movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Detective Pikachu.
Nintendo is already making a Super Mario movie and planning a Legend of Zelda film, signaling a big push into Hollywood. A Metroid movie could be their next project.
Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic the Hedgehog in the movies, believes a Super Smash Bros. movie is becoming more likely, and many fans would be excited to see Samus included.
We don’t have many details yet about Nintendo’s future film projects, but a new Metroid game is scheduled to come out in December 2025.
Struckmann’s point sparked an interesting question: if a live-action Metroid movie were made, who would be the perfect choice to play Samus?
