Season 9 of Rick and Morty is coming later this year! The premiere date has been announced, and the creators promise the new episodes will be made by actual artists – no AI-generated content, just good old-fashioned, human-created animation.
In Season 8 of Rick and Morty, the show explored ideas about who we are and taking responsibility for our choices, with Rick’s earlier mistakes continuing to cause problems across different worlds.
The show’s ten episodes included a cameo by James Gunn and primarily centered on the Smith family. Beth dealt with personal struggles, mirrored by her Space Beth counterpart, while Jerry hilariously searched for purpose in his life, providing much of the show’s comedy.
The season ended with a thrilling finale focused on a huge, universe-threatening battle. Morty had to decide whether to finally stand up to Rick or keep following his lead, and the consequences of that choice will be explored in the future.

Details about the story are being kept secret for now, but Michael Ouweleen, President of Adult Swim, hinted at what’s coming in a recent statement (according to Variety):

Right from the start, you’ll be captivated by the show’s incredibly creative and wild ideas, combined with some of the most well-developed characters you’ll ever see. Of course, as the creator, I’m biased, but I genuinely believe that’s true.
