The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will feature the return of five superheroes who were previously lost in Infinity War. In that earlier film, the villain Thanos shockingly eliminated half of all life, leaving fans stunned. However, as many expected, the heroes eventually found a way to bring those lost in the Blip back to life in Avengers: Endgame.
Many of the original heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are still central to the story and will be featured prominently in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. It’s expected that Doomsday will use a similar tactic to Infinity War by ending on a cliffhanger. Some believe this cliffhanger could involve Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom achieving a major victory, much like Thanos did with the Snap.
So far, five heroes who disappeared during the Snap have been confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday. However, there could be even more returning characters – either among those whose fate hasn’t been revealed yet, or from actors who haven’t been announced for the movie.
Sam Wilson/Captain America

Man, it’s wild to think about Sam Wilson’s journey. He started out as the Falcon, went through the Blip, and then we really saw the beginnings of his transformation into Captain America. But it wasn’t instant! It took the whole Falcon and the Winter Soldier series for him to really embrace the shield, and now it sounds like he’s fully stepped into the role for Avengers 5. Apparently, he’s leading a brand new team of five major heroes – I can’t wait to see who they are!
Okay, so Captain America: Brave New World didn’t exactly crush it at the box office this year, but it doesn’t seem to be hurting Anthony Mackie’s future with Marvel! From what I’m hearing, he’s still going to be a major player – he’s set to star in both Doomsday and Secret Wars as one of the new leaders of the Avengers. A lot of fans, myself included, are hoping he’ll be sticking around for Phase 7 and even beyond! It’s great to see Marvel still has big plans for Sam Wilson.
Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier

Sam Wilson wasn’t the only one of Steve Rogers’ best friends who fell victim to the Snap, as Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes suffered the same fate in Avengers: Infinity War before his grand return as part of Endgame‘s iconic “Portals” scene.
Following their collaboration in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes appear to be at odds heading into the Doomsday event, which could lead to a new conflict within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time, the disagreement might be between the established Avengers team and a new group calling themselves the New Avengers.
Fans haven’t seen the last of the former Winter Soldier – Sebastian Stan is set to appear in Secret Wars next year. However, many are worried that his 16-year run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might end with a sad fate in Avengers 6.
Shuri/Black Panther

Marvel Studios is planning to start Phase 7 of its movie universe with Black Panther 3, expected to come out in early 2028. Before that, Letitia Wright will return as Shuri in Avengers: Doomsday. She recently took on the role of Wakanda’s hero, battling Namor at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Although we didn’t see Shuri covered in dust during the events of Infinity War, she was busy in a Wakandan lab trying to safely remove the Mind Stone from Vision. Her death wasn’t confirmed until Endgame, where she fought in the final battle, about a year before she tragically lost her brother, T’Challa, and took on the mantle of Black Panther.
M’Baku

Following the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Winston Duke’s character, M’Baku, appears to have become the new King of Wakanda. He’ll team up with Shuri in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, along with other characters from the Black Panther universe.
In Infinity War, many Wakandans, including M’Baku, were suddenly erased from existence. This powerful, hidden army played a key role in the fight against Thanos.
We don’t know exactly how involved M’Baku will be in Doomsday, but it’s likely the Wakandans could provide additional forces to Doctor Doom’s army, just as they might for any large-scale conflict.
Yelena Belova

The overarching story of the Multiverse Saga hasn’t yet explained what happened to many of the new characters introduced in Phases 4, 5, and 6 during Thanos’ snap – whether they were affected by it. However, a few, like Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, have had their stories clarified.
In the Disney+ series Hawkeye, it was revealed that Yelena Belova had been affected by the Blip in a poignant way: the show depicted her disappearing from her own point of view. This happened while she was visiting Ana, a former Black Widow, who had since started a family. At the same time, Yelena was still grieving the loss of her sister, Natasha Romanoff, having only been gone for five years when she returned.
After a significant role in Black Widow, a cameo in Hawkeye, and recently starring in Thunderbolts!, Yelena Belova will now lead a new team of Avengers in a story based on Doomsday.
BONUS.) Doctor Strange

Sources say Avengers: Doomsday kept some well-known Marvel Cinematic Universe actors a secret during its initial cast announcement, including Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange played a crucial role in the events leading to the Blip and the Avengers’ eventual win in Endgame. He deliberately gave Thanos the Time Stone to save Tony Stark, a risky move that was part of a complex plan he’d put in motion, even though it meant sacrificing himself.
Contrary to previous speculation, it seems Tom Holland’s Spider-Man won’t be in the upcoming movie Doomsday. Instead, he’s expected to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day before joining the events of Secret Wars.
