To celebrate National Employee Appreciation Day, McDonald’s is giving away free meals! Just share your first job story to participate in their new promotion.
McDonald’s is now letting customers share funny or memorable stories about their first jobs through a new program called “First Job Confessional.” People who submit a story can earn a $15 McDonald’s gift card.
The campaign emphasizes how first jobs build valuable work skills, pointing out that about 12.5% of Americans have worked at McDonald’s during their career.
The First Job Confessional is designed like a McDonald’s order kiosk, but instead of ordering food, people record a short video sharing their experiences from their very first job.
McDonald’s offering free meal for sharing first job stories
People who share their first job stories in person will get a $15 McDonald’s gift card. You can also participate online by posting your story on social media with #FirstJobConfessional – some of the best stories will be shown on McDonald’s YouTube channel.
The campaign includes TV personality Olandria Carthen, who talked about her first jobs and how they helped her grow professionally.
Before becoming a TV personality, Carthen grew up in a small town in Alabama, surrounded by a hardworking family who valued honesty and dedication.
Growing up, my mom and sister worked at McDonald’s, and they taught me that your first job gives you skills you’ll use forever. I really understood this when I started babysitting – I had to juggle multiple tasks, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for someone else’s well-being. This campaign feels special because it celebrates my family’s work history and the valuable lessons we all learned from our first jobs.
The first public confession event happened in New York City at Gansevoort Plaza on March 6th, and the next one is planned for Austin, Texas.
The campaign will then travel to additional cities across the United States:
Here’s the event schedule: March 15-17 in Austin, Texas; April 23 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and July 28-29 in Chicago, Illinois.
McDonald’s has offered free food multiple times in 2026. For example, on Valentine’s Day, they surprised customers with free caviar kits and a $15 gift card to spend on McNuggets.
