Peaky Blinders Series’ Cancelled Original Ending Plans Finally Revealed With Major Shelby Death Change

Be warned: this contains spoilers for the original Peaky Blinders series. Get ready for more trouble and destruction as the Shelby family is back in Birmingham, and the Peaky Blinders are in charge.

Peaky Blinders, a popular British crime drama, ran from 2013 to 2022. Set in Birmingham after World War I, the show centers on the Shelby family and their ruthless leader, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), as they strive to expand their criminal empire and dominate all of England.

Paul Anderson, who famously played Arthur Shelby in Peaky Blinders, recently discussed the new film The Immortal Man with LADBible. He revealed that series creator Steven Knight altered the original ending of Peaky Blinders following the death of a key Shelby family member. Throughout the show’s six seasons, the Shelby family suffered significant losses, including Grace, Polly, Ruby, and John. However, it was John’s death that ultimately led Knight to change his planned conclusion for the series.

He envisioned the final scene with Joe (who played John Shelby), Cillian, and myself. The idea was to have the sound of bells and air raid sirens playing as World War II begins, showing our children going off to war. He explained that the camera would pan over Birmingham as the sirens sounded, announcing war with Germany, and that would be the end. However, a lot has changed since then.
