Even as it nears its finale, the longest-running sitcom on network television is finding new success on streaming platforms. Comedies have long been a staple of traditional TV, consistently ranking among the most-watched shows. Before streaming hits like Shrinking, Ted Lasso, and Hacks, network television had already created classic comedies such as MASH, Frasier, and The Golden Girls*.
Launching a hit comedy and keeping it on the air for years has become increasingly challenging in recent times. However, CBS’s The Neighborhood has defied the odds. Created by Jim Reynolds, the series debuted in 2018 and has aired for eight seasons, totaling 145 episodes—making it the longest-running comedy currently on network television. While season 8, which concludes in May, is nearing its end, the show has another reason to celebrate.

According to FlixPatrol, The Neighborhood is the 9th most popular show on Paramount+ as of today, March 9, 2026. What’s more, the comedy has been a top-rated show on the platform for an impressive 474 days! All seasons are currently available for streaming, and new episodes appear on Paramount+ the day after they air on Mondays, making it the best place to catch the show.
It’s particularly noteworthy that The Neighborhood is performing so well on streaming, considering it’s one of only two comedies on the list. The other is Ghosts, a very popular show on traditional TV. Other well-known broadcast comedies like Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage haven’t made the cut yet, despite having higher live viewership than The Neighborhood. The list also includes Everybody Loves Raymond, a long-standing classic.
What To Expect From The Rest Of The Neighborhood’s Run
A spin-off series featuring Malcolm and Marty, the sons of Calvin and Tina from The Neighborhood, was originally in development. The show would have followed them as they moved from Pasadena to Venice Beach, but CBS ultimately decided not to proceed with it. Instead, storylines intended for the spin-off will now be incorporated into the final episodes of The Neighborhood, meaning we’ll see more episodes centered around Malcolm and Marty. Hints within the show suggest that Marty and Courtney will be getting married soon, providing a natural focus for upcoming celebrations.
As a big fan of The Neighborhood, I was really surprised to see a behind-the-scenes video from the last day of filming! It showed Dave and Gemma’s house completely packed up, which got me thinking. Remember how the whole show started with the Grovers moving next door to the Butlers? Seeing their house packed makes me wonder if they’re moving again, and if this means the show is going to end with them completing that initial journey – a full circle moment, if you will. It’s definitely got me buzzing with theories about how things will wrap up on CBS!
