While several actors have been cast in different roles, the identity of the actor who will play the villain, formerly known as Tom Riddle, remains a mystery. Many initially thought Cillian Murphy might take on the role, but he has confirmed he won’t be involved, leaving fans to start guessing again.
Many fans hoped Bettany would take on the role, especially after Murphy said he wasn’t involved in the new Harry Potter series. Since then, all attention has been on the Marvel actor. He recently spoke to ScreenRant‘s Ash Crossan at the Saturn Awards and finally addressed the rumors. While he’s a fan of the franchise, he confirmed he won’t be playing Lord Voldemort. He stated, “I haven’t heard anything about that. I’m a big fan of the IP, and I’m a big fan of HBO, but nobody has contacted me about it.”
Paul Bettany is famous for playing Vision in the Marvel movies and the Disney+ show WandaVision. He’s also shown he can play villains, like Dryden Vos in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Because he’s proven he can handle complicated characters, many fans think he’d be perfect for this role.
HBO hasn’t revealed who will play Lord Voldemort in the new Harry Potter TV series, even though fans are eagerly guessing. The show will cover all of J.K. Rowling’s books over several seasons, adapting one book per season. Warwick Davis, who is reprising his role as Professor Flitwick, has stated that this adaptation will be a more faithful retelling of the story than the previous movies.
As of today, HBO hasn’t announced a specific release date for the new Harry Potter series. However, the studio has confirmed it will premiere sometime in 2027.
