Lily Collins will be taking on the role of Audrey Hepburn in a new biopic. The film will be based on the book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. by Sam Wasson, which explores Hepburn’s life and the making of the iconic 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Alena Smith, known for creating the series Dickinson, is writing the screenplay. The announcement has sparked discussion about casting choices, specifically referencing a controversial role from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the need for sensitive representation.
Collins’s company, Case Study Films, is working on the movie alongside Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment, and Scott LaStaiti (known for The Accountant 2). It’s currently unknown how much of Audrey Hepburn’s life the film will cover, beyond a single story – things like her work helping the Dutch Resistance during World War II or her Academy Award win for Roman Holiday are still to be determined.
This isn’t the first attempt at making a movie about Audrey Hepburn. Back in 2022, Rooney Mara was set to star in a biopic directed by Luca Guadagnino, but the project fell through. Ariana Grande has also been mentioned as a possible star for years. Will this new version finally come to life? The person behind it, Emily Cooper, has a reputation for getting things accomplished.
