Everyone is excited for the next generation of Pokémon games – Generation 10 – but so far, official details are scarce. While we know new games are in development, most information has come from unconfirmed rumors and leaks. Recently, a leaked potential release date has sparked debate among fans.
A recent post on X summarized the latest leaks for the upcoming tenth generation of Pokémon games. It covered key details like new gameplay features, how many new Pokémon to expect, underwater exploration, and a possible release date. The rumored release date especially sparked a lot of discussion and debate among fans about its authenticity.
If the next Pokémon games (Generation 10) come out on November 20, 2026, that would fit the typical release pattern for the series. However, it’s a little unexpected, as reports suggest Game Freak and The Pokémon Company were aiming for a longer development period to polish the games further.
The number of Pokémon revealed in the leaked data is similar to what we usually see in the main series games, and the announced release date, though surprisingly early, actually fits the typical schedule for these games. Despite this, fans are still discussing whether the release timing is right.
I’ve been reading the comments, and a lot of people are really doubtful about this release. Someone even said, ‘No way this is coming out right after GTA 6!’ But honestly, if any series could go head-to-head with GTA 6, it’d be Pokémon. It’s still the biggest entertainment franchise in the world, after all.
One user noted, “It’s likely a hoax, but games often launch on Thursdays, which would make November 19th the release date.” Many others expressed similar thoughts. This is a reasonable observation, as previous Switch releases have indeed been on Thursdays.
Could We Really Be Getting Gen 10 Before The End Of The Year?
While it’s not a certainty, new Pokémon games (Generation 10) could realistically release this year. Traditionally, major Pokémon games come out in November. However, there’s usually a three-year gap between releases, and it’s only been four years since Scarlet and Violet came out in 2022. So, a 2024 release would be a slightly shorter gap than usual.
Some Pokémon games have followed a predictable release pattern. Generations 3 to 5 were spaced four years apart, but most other main series games have come out every three years. If the tenth generation isn’t released this year, it will be the longest wait between generations in the series’ history, dating back to the original Pokémon games in 1996.
Leaks should always be taken with a bit of skepticism, but considering previous Pokémon releases, a 2026 launch date doesn’t seem that far-fetched. If the developers need more time to polish the game, a longer development period would also be understandable. We likely won’t have to wait long for official confirmation, as Pokémon Day 2026 is coming up soon.
