While not a classic, Homefront is an enjoyable action movie with several strong moments. Jason Statham has starred in many similar films, but this 2013 release is among his better ones. The film benefits from a supporting cast, including Winona Ryder, making it stand out from typical action movies. 1. His House (2020)
His House is an older Netflix film that’s still really good. This subtle horror movie tells the story of a refugee family starting a new life in the UK, but they’re troubled by haunting memories. As a huge fan of smart horror, I really got a lot out of His House. It’s not just about scares – it uses the horror genre to tackle some really important and thought-provoking themes. And honestly, despite not blowing up online like some other streaming horror movies, it is legitimately creepy at times! It’s a total Netflix hidden gem, and I highly recommend seeking it out if you’re looking for something more than just jump scares.
