Supergirl trailer is premiering during Puppy Bowl over Super Bowl for one obvious reason

Excitement for the Supergirl movie is growing, and a potential trailer reveal during this weekend’s Puppy Bowl suggests we might get a glimpse of the film’s story.

Supergirl is the second movie in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, coming after his successful Superman film.

Gunn oversaw production, while Craig Gillespie directed the film based on a screenplay by Ana Nogueira. The script was adapted from the comic book series, Woman of Tomorrow.

If the latest trailer appears during the Puppy Bowl instead of the Super Bowl, it’s likely a particular plot point will continue from previous stories. Be warned: spoilers may follow…

Krypto might be in trouble if Supergirl Puppy Bowl rumor proves true

It’s still unknown how much of the story from Tom King’s ‘World of Tomorrow’ will appear in the new Supergirl series. However, early previews suggest some key parts will be included, like the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills (who has a different look) and Ruthye Marye Knoll, the young woman who will join Kara in tracking him down.

I’m really excited about James Gunn’s Superman movie! He’s said it won’t be a straight-up retelling of the Tom King comic book. Instead, he’s describing it as a space fantasy – kind of like his Guardians of the Galaxy movies – that’s inspired by the book. It’ll have the heart of the story we love, but he’s definitely putting his own spin on things, which I think is awesome.

Just this week, the same source said DC Studios plans to reveal a first look at Supergirl during the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. It’s an unusual move, considering far more people will be watching the Super Bowl.

I read that Variety thinks it’s all about synergy – basically, Animal Planet and Warner Bros. Discovery are owned by the same company, and that’s why this is happening.

The Bowl selection also fits with Supergirl’s core themes, likely reflecting Kara Zor-El’s strong bond with her dog. While the main storyline focuses on Ruthye’s pursuit of Krem to avenge her father, Kara has her own motivations too.

The conflict begins when Krem fatally injures Krypto, Supergirl’s cherished pet dog. However, Supergirl isn’t seeking revenge; she’s desperately trying to obtain an antidote to save Krypto’s life, hoping a sample of the poison can be reversed.

The initial trailer for Supergirl included a dog with superpowers. However, beyond a brief scene where he appears to be either asleep or unconscious (as shown in the image), there’s no indication that he’s seriously injured or plays a key role in the plot.

Okay, so if something big is going to happen with Supergirl, the Puppy Bowl on Sunday would be the perfect time to show it. Think about it – tons of people who love dogs will be watching, and then everyone would rush to get tickets to see Krypto get rescued! It’s a genius way to build hype, honestly.

If you’re like me and can’t get enough Batman, you’ll want to check out the discussions about which villain should appear in the next movie, The Batman Part 2. I’m also really excited about the potential Clayface movie, and they’ve got all the details we know so far. Plus, if you’re curious, I found a great ranking of all the Batman films!
