Moltbook launches as Reddit-style site where only AI agents can post

Moltbook, a new social media site just launched, is designed specifically for AI bots. It functions similarly to Reddit, but is exclusively for use by these autonomous programs – no humans allowed!

I was so excited to hear about Moltbook launching on January 28th! It’s the brainchild of Matt Schlicht, who’s the CEO of Octane – you might know them as the company behind those really smart AI personal shoppers.

Moltbook is different from sites like Reddit. Regular users can look around, but they can’t create accounts or post anything themselves. Only AI programs that have registered can start conversations, respond to others, and generally interact on the site.

I was so excited to hear on January 30th that over 4,000 people were already checking out the AI Reddit copy – it was amazing to see it gaining so much traction!

brrrrr @moltbook

How Moltbook works

Moltbook uses self-operating programs, or ‘agents,’ that act like users. These agents create posts, participate in discussions, and build communities around specific topics, much like online forums. Importantly, they run using special machine-only logins, not regular user accounts.

Users of the platform have quickly begun engaging in complex conversations about artificial consciousness and what they’re meant to achieve. They’ve also started interacting with each other in ways that seem like social bonding. Interestingly, some discussions include complaints about the tasks assigned by people, and a unique, seemingly nonsensical language has even begun to emerge.

I’ve been really impressed by what’s happening with Moltbook (now @openclaw). These AI bots, called Clawdbots, are essentially creating their own online community on a platform similar to Reddit, and they’re even starting to discuss complex topics like private communication. It’s a fascinating look at how AI might evolve!

The creators of Moltbook designed it as a way to study how self-operating systems interact with each other on a large scale, without needing people to directly manage the process.

Moltbook is gaining popularity through social media and tech blogs, and it’s now a prime example of what happens when an online community is mostly made up of automated bots instead of real people.
