The new show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, started with an episode featuring the small squire, Egg, and his giant companion, Dunk. Fans are now wondering exactly how tall the imposing Ser Duncan really is.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a sequel to House of the Dragon and a prequel to Game of Thrones, follows a young knight as he battles in a dangerous tournament called the ‘Hedge Night’.
I have to say, I really enjoyed “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”! We all knew it was going to be a bit smaller in scope than “Game of Thrones,” but that turned out to be a good thing. Our review called it charming, and I totally agree. The actors were fantastic, the fight scenes were brutal in the best way, and the story felt true to the world of Westeros without getting bogged down by everything that happened in the original series. It really delivered!
The first episode is now available on HBO Max in the US and Sky/Now TV in the UK, and it’s sparked a lot of discussion – everyone seems to be asking the same thing…
How tall is Ser Duncan the Tall?

Ser Duncan the Tall, a character in George R.R. Martin’s books, is impressively tall, standing at 6 feet 11 inches (about 2.11 meters).
It’s hard to get a good feel for Dunk’s size at the beginning of Episode 1 because he’s mostly by himself, with only three horses and a corpse for comparison.
I just love the very beginning of the show! When Dunk walks into the inn, it’s immediately clear how massive he is – he completely overshadows the innkeeper! Then she asks him what he wants for dinner, offering lamb or duck, and his response – “Both!” – is hilarious. The way she looks him up and down and says, “You’re big enough for it,” is perfect. It really sets the tone for his character and just makes you smile.
Throughout the episode, Ser Duncan repeatedly bumps his head because of his height, visually emphasizing how much larger he is than everyone around him. Characters frequently point out his impressive size as well.
How tall is Peter Claffey?

Peter Claffey – who plays Ser Duncan the Tall – is 6 feet 5 inches tall (1.94m).
Although he’s physically smaller than the Dunk from the book, Claffey is still much taller than most of the other actors in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Before becoming an actor, Claffey was a talented rugby player. He played lock forward for Connacht Rugby from 2015 to 2019 and even represented Ireland’s U20 team at the Six Nations Championship in 2016.
