Blake Lively’s 2024 film was her most financially successful project to date. Unfortunately, its success was overshadowed by a significant and highly publicized legal dispute.
The conflict between Kate Lively and Justin Baldoni, who both directed and starred in the film, is still ongoing. Everyone involved, including author Colleen Hoover, has tried to avoid public discussion of the issues. Hoover originally backed Baldoni’s creative choices, but later made claims of sexual harassment. More than a year after the controversy began, Hoover shared with Deadline that she has been undergoing cancer treatment.
The author announced on social media that she only has one day of radiation treatment remaining. She shared the update on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Second to last day of radiation.”
I can’t fault the team at @Texas.Oncology – they’ve been wonderful. I wish I didn’t need their services at all, but if you ever do, I definitely recommend them.
The author has been subtly mentioning health problems since October. During promotion for her book, Regretting You, she hinted at these issues and announced she would have to cancel appearances, including a book signing with actor Lukas Gage. In an October social media post, she explained she needed unavoidable surgery and wouldn’t be able to travel for a while.
In December, Hoover shared on her Facebook group that she’d been dealing with ongoing health problems while filming in Canada. She explained she’d delayed seeking help until the movie wrapped up, and after returning home, she received a cancer diagnosis.
The author shared that they had a tumor removed with surgery and will soon start radiation treatment, but thankfully, they didn’t require chemotherapy.
Colleen Hoover’s new thriller, Woman Down, will be released on January 13th. However, she’s letting fans know that she won’t be doing a traditional book signing tour. In a recent message, Hoover explained she’s being upfront about this, and while she might do a signing eventually, she needs to see how she feels before making any plans.
