An AI-powered VTuber is now the most popular Twitch streamer in the world

An AI streamer named Neuro-sama has reached the top spot on Twitch, becoming more popular than any human creator. Developed by Vedal, Neuro-sama is now the most-subscribed-to channel on the platform.

According to TwitchTracker, as of January 2, 2026, Neuro-sama’s Twitch channel, Vedal987, has around 162,459 active subscribers – the most on the platform. This puts her well ahead of Jynxzi, who has approximately 73,942 subscribers.

Neuro-sama is a virtual streamer, or VTuber, brought to life by AI. She was created by programmer Vedal, who built her VTuber appearance using C# and Unity. The intelligence behind Neuro-sama – how she interacts and responds – was developed using the Python programming language.

This AI can interact with viewers by chatting, singing, responding to videos, and playing games. It often streams for almost 24 hours a day. Viewers often emphasize that it’s much more than just a basic ChatGPT response – it’s a complex system.

According to the Neuro-sama wiki, everything she does – from moving and talking to playing games and interacting with viewers – is created using artificial intelligence designed to mimic a real person streaming online.

How much is Vedal making on Twitch with Neuro-sama?

With current subscription prices, Vedal’s channel is earning a substantial income. At $5 per subscription, and considering Twitch’s standard revenue share, subscriptions alone bring in over $400,000 each month. This doesn’t even include earnings from ads, bits, donations, or sponsorships.

Jynxzi was surprised to learn that an AI VTuber, Neuro-sama, had become more popular than him, and he reacted to the news live on his stream, noting how quickly she gained a large following.

He seemed shocked, saying he’d never heard of Vedal987 and couldn’t believe it wasn’t a real person. He described it as the future of streaming, then added, “I’m honestly confused.” He concluded by saying, “It’s all just part of the game, I guess,” and explained that Vedal987 is an AI VTuber that streams constantly, having received an incredible 158,000 gifted subscriptions.

Jinzxy bewildered when he find out his number 1 spot is taken by Vedal987 “the AI VTuber”.

Neuro-sama became popular after a long period of improvement. She started as a basic bot on Twitch in 2019, playing the game osu!, and was then redesigned and launched as a complete VTuber in late 2022.

The channel has become very popular online several times, notably when the AI began to wonder about its own reason for being and what it means to exist.

The videos quickly started a widespread conversation online about virtual influencers created by AI, the one-sided relationships people form with them, and how livestreaming might evolve in the future.
