The Evil Dead franchise is known for its resilience, much like its terrifying villains. While fans await the next film, Evil Dead: Burn, they can revisit one of the scariest installments with the new Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray of Evil Dead: Rise. Originally released on Blu-ray in 2023, this special edition is being released by Arrow Video on January 13th and is currently available for pre-order at Amazon for a discounted price of $35 (originally $50).

Evil Dead: Rise took the horror series in a new direction, moving the terrifying action from a remote forest to an ordinary apartment building in Los Angeles. The story centers around sisters who are pulled back together when the infamous Necronomicon unleashes demonic forces, and one family finds themselves battling a horrifying and unexpected version of motherhood.

If you’re eager to watch Evil Dead: Rise and don’t want to wait for the new Arrow Video release, the older Blu-ray versions are available on Amazon. Keep in mind the 4K and standard Blu-rays don’t include any extra features, but they’re a budget-friendly option if you just want the films. However, we still suggest waiting for the Arrow Video version, as the price difference isn’t much and you’ll get a lot more bonus content.

Most of the Evil Dead films are easy to find on Blu-ray and DVD at fair prices. However, the original Evil Dead, directed by Sam Raimi, is harder to come by and more expensive due to limited production numbers, making it a collector’s item. The other two films directed by Raimi are readily available and more affordable, with special editions like steelbooks and Collector’s Editions available for Army of Darkness.

The Evil Dead franchise saw a resurgence in the 2010s, beginning with a brutal reboot directed by Fede Alvarez, who later directed Aliens: Romulus. The reboot has been released in multiple collector’s editions, including two steelbook versions and a 4K set. The collection is rounded out by “Ash vs Evil Dead,” a series that continues the story of the original films with Bruce Campbell reprising his role as the iconic Ash Williams. This Blu-ray collection includes all three seasons of the horror-comedy series, plus extras like featurettes, behind-the-scenes footage, and audio commentary.
