The cast of “Heated Rivalry” has quickly become famous since the show premiered on Max on November 28th. While many of the actors in this romantic drama seem like new faces, you’ve probably actually seen them in other shows or movies before.
Based on Rachel Reid’s book series, Heated Rivalry follows the personal lives of two professional hockey players. While the show features hockey, it’s the drama and romance off the ice that really captivates audiences—and it often gets quite passionate. The series has proven popular, and a second season of Heated Rivalry has already been greenlit.
Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander
HBO Max
This new television role marks a significant step for 24-year-old actor Williams, though he’s already built up experience in acting. He’s appeared in films like Nobody Dumps My Daughter, All I Need for Christmas, and Tracker, plus a number of short films. Recently, Williams joined Creative Artists Agency, which should open doors to more opportunities in the future.
Shane Hollander is a kind-hearted Asian-Canadian hockey player whose life gets complicated when he meets his rival, Ilya Rozanov. Their initial dislike blossoms into something more, but a public relationship proves challenging for both of them.

The actor, originally from Texas, made his big-screen debut in Joker: Folie à deux, appearing as a young prisoner alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. The movie came out in 2024, a year before he gained wider recognition for his role in Heated Rivalry. He had also previously appeared in Tiny Beautiful Things and April X.
Alexei Rozanov is a highly skilled Russian hockey player and the captain of the Boston Raiders. He faces significant pressure to play for Russia, which creates conflict with his family, particularly his very nationalistic father.
François Arnaud as Scott Hunter
François Arnaud is a Canadian actor and producer from Montreal, Quebec. He’s widely recognized for his roles as Cesare Borgia in The Borgias and Sammy in Twinless. He’s also appeared in popular shows like Schitt’s Creek and Yellowjackets, and is set to star in the upcoming series ALICE, a co-production from HBO Max and France Télévision about pioneering filmmaker Alice Guy Blanché.
I first meet Scott Hunter in episode 3, and we get a glimpse into his past with Kip Grady. He’s a player for the New York Admirals, and the episode really starts to show how much he’s hiding – he’s grappling with being gay and keeping it a secret from everyone, both on and off the ice. It’s a tough situation, and you can really feel the weight of it.

I first discovered Robbie G.K. when he played Temp in Utopia Falls, and he’s been popping up everywhere since! He’s actually in a new show called Overcompensating as Riley – I just started watching it on Peacock and it’s pretty good.
Kip Grady first encounters Scott Hunter while working at a smoothie shop. He quickly develops a crush on him, but isn’t sure if Scott is gay. Eventually, Kip becomes Scott’s close friend and someone Scott relies on for good luck.
Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova as Svetlana Vetrova

Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova began her acting career in 2017 with a role in Downsizing, playing a member of the colony. Since then, she’s appeared in shows and movies like The Boys, Adults, and A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, among others.
Kharlamova portrays Svetlana Vetrova, a longtime friend and former lover of Ilya Rozanov. She consistently supports him through his personal struggles, even though she knows he doesn’t feel the same way about her romantically.
Sophie Nélisse as Rose Landry

Sophie Nélisse is a Canadian actress who gained popularity for her role as young Shauna in the show Yellowjackets. She also appeared in the film The Book Thief with Emily Watson and Geoffrey Rush. In 2019, she led the movie 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, and she’s set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Kathleen Glasgow’s novel, Girl in Pieces, alongside her Yellowjackets co-star Courtney Eaton.
Rose Landry met Shane on a movie set in Montreal, and they started dating. However, Shane seemed more interested in the publicity their relationship generated than in Rose herself. Rose began to suspect Shane was gay, and after they broke up, she offered to remain a supportive friend as he explored his sexuality.
