Randy Pitchford, the head of the Borderlands franchise, is telling players who aren’t happy with the new game to ask for their money back. Now, a publisher known for its playful attitude has responded with another option.
Devolver Digital is offering those who requested a refund for Borderlands 4 the chance to use that money to buy their new game, Mycopunk. Released in July for $15, Mycopunk is a co-op shooter set on another planet and shares a similar look and feel with Borderlands 4.
Just a heads up – if you decide to get a refund for Borderlands 4 and try something else, Mycopunk is currently only $15.

You can buy Mycopunk from TopMob sister site Fanatical.
Devolver Digital often uses current trends in the gaming world to get attention for its own titles. A prime example is their promise to release one of their games on the very same day that Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out – a commitment they reaffirmed even after GTA 6’s release was pushed back to May 2026.
Since Borderlands 4 came out on September 12th, Randy Pitchford has been very active online. He’s been responding to discussions about the PC version of the game, sometimes clashing with players he calls “stubborn” about 4K resolution, and arguing that performance isn’t as bad as some are reporting. He even publicly told unhappy players to request a refund from Steam.
We don’t know exactly how many players have requested refunds for Borderlands 4. Despite this, the game is still very popular on Steam – as of September 17th, it’s the best-selling game in the US and is currently among the top 10 most-played games, with over 200,000 players online at the same time today.
So, Borderlands 4 is getting a bit of a mixed reaction on Steam right now. Gearbox is warning us that there’s a bug that could wipe all your skill points, which is scary! They’re also aware of some performance issues on PC and have given some advice to try and fix things. Honestly, I’m already playing and it’s been a bit rough, so I checked out TopMob’s guide hub for Borderlands 4, and it’s actually been super helpful with tips and tricks to get things running smoother and understand the game better.
Borderlands 4 is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on October 3rd.
