After the huge success of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios announced a new Divinity game at The Game Awards. They’ve now shared that this upcoming installment will connect to their 2017 title, Divinity: Original Sin 2, by including familiar characters and continuing its story.
Okay, so Divinity: Original Sin 2 is finally out on the new Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5! Larian, the developers, said this new story is fresh, but if you’ve played their games before, you’ll definitely recognize some stuff – little nods and connections for us long-time fans. They also said you can jump right into Original Sin 2 without playing the first one, but honestly, they recommend checking out the original Divinity: Original Sin if you want the full experience. I think I know what I’m playing next!
Owners of Divinity: Original Sin 2 on most platforms can get the updated version for free by downloading the Upgrade Pack. However, players in Japan will need to pay a small fee of ¥100 to upgrade from the Switch version to the Switch 2 version, and from the PlayStation 4 version to the PlayStation 5 version.
Before The Game Awards, a mysterious structure known as the Hellstone hinted at the upcoming release of a new Divinity game. Currently, there’s no confirmed date for when the game will be available.
