A Minecraft player who has been walking for a long time, trying to reach the edge of the game world, is now almost there.
Minecraft is usually a relaxing and creative game, letting you build anything you imagine with the help of mods. However, it also has some surprisingly unsettling aspects. The “Far Lands” are a good example of this eerie side of the game.
For more than ten years, a YouTuber named KurtJMac has been working towards a difficult goal: reaching this strangely shaped place.
The Far Lands were a strange part of older Minecraft versions, created by a glitch in how the game generated landscapes. They always appeared at a specific, incredibly distant location – 12,550,821 blocks from where you first started the game. Now, after a long time, a YouTuber is almost about to reach this legendary, glitched area.
Dedicated Minecraft player is finally reaching the Far Lands after over a decade
I first discovered KurtJMac way back in 2011 when he started his ‘Far Lands or Bust’ series – it was amazing! But what really got me hooked was his incredible Survival mode journey, where he walked *everything* on foot. As far as I know, he was one of the very first to really document an attempt like that, and it was seriously impressive!

He wanted to not only share his experience overcoming this challenge, but also use it as an opportunity to collect donations for different charities.
YouTuber AntVenom recently noticed that a character named Kurt in the game might be nearing the end of his storyline. He figured this out by tracking Kurt’s location using the game’s debug tools and estimating how much further he has to go.
He wanted to know how much time Kurt spent walking between each of his twelve F3 key presses over the last fourteen years, and the total walking time since his most recent press. He acknowledged this was a challenging calculation, but he managed to estimate the figures.
AntVenom says Kurt is roughly 200,000 blocks away from reaching the Far Lands. He estimates Kurt will finish his journey in under 24 hours if he continues streaming for about three hours at a time, which is his current pace.
The Far Lands glitch has been addressed in the latest Minecraft update, but it remains well-known and popular among players as one of the game’s famous bugs.
Though not literally the end of the world, the Far Lands served as a sort of digital one. This is where the game’s map began to break down, creating a strange, chaotic landscape resembling a huge wall filled with tunnels and deep cracks.
