DC fans have four exciting projects to look forward to in 2026, all building on the stories within the franchise. 2025 was a significant year for DC, marking the official start of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision for the DC Universe. David Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman was particularly well-received, and the second season of Peacemaker ended with a cliffhanger that sets up future storylines, including a focus on Salvation and a sequel to Man of Tomorrow.
DC plans to continue its momentum into 2026 with new movies and TV shows, such as Supergirl, Lanterns, Clayface, and the Prime Video series Batman: Caped Crusader.
This list excludes Teen Titans Go! and Batwheels (coming in 2026) because they are aimed at a very young audience.

6.) Batman: Knightfall

The first movie in DC’s planned Batman saga, called Batman: Knightfall, is scheduled to come out around 2026. The film is based on the popular comic book storyline where Bane releases all of Batman’s enemies from Arkham Asylum, driving the hero to his absolute limits both physically and mentally.
It’s great to see this story adapted into animation! It lets fans witness Batman’s struggle as his classic enemies create chaos in Gotham City. The animated version of Knightfall also delves deeper into the introduction of Azrael during Batman’s recovery. While the Gotham TV series featured Azrael, this new adaptation promises a more faithful portrayal of the character from the comics—a brutal and fanatical warrior who is very different from the true Batman.
5.) My Adventures With Superman Season 3

I was so excited to hear that Season 3 of My Adventures With Superman was officially in post-production back in August 2025! That pretty much means we can expect it to drop sometime in 2026, which feels like forever away, but totally worth the wait. The best part? We’re finally getting Superboy introduced! I’m really hoping this season dives deeper into Superman’s Kryptonian family and history – it’s going to be amazing!
Things are still really shaken up after Brainiac attacked, and it’s a big part of what’s happening now. I’m so excited to see Supergirl living with Superman – having another powerful Kryptonian to help protect Earth is amazing! But honestly, I’m a little worried about Lex Luthor teaming up with General Eiling. That feels like a recipe for disaster, especially with Superman and Supergirl trying to rebuild things. I have a feeling they’ll be causing trouble for our heroes soon.
What sets My Adventures with Superman apart is its ability to consistently deliver enjoyable and lighthearted stories about Superman, all while honoring the source material from the comics.
4.) Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2

Release Date: Sometime in 2026
Most people expected Batman: Caped Crusader to be a success, and it lived up to expectations when it debuted on Prime Video in August 2024, earning a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Excitement for Season 2 is still strong, particularly because the first season’s finale hinted at the arrival of Batman’s greatest enemy: the Joker.
Even though Batman: Caped Crusader is a standalone story outside the main DC universe, there’s a lot to look forward to. It has the creative freedom to delve deeper into Batman’s world and explore his villains without being tied to existing storylines. Plus, the show’s distinctive 1940s setting is a great addition.
Season 2 of Batman: Caped Crusader continues to focus on realistic, down-to-earth stories, allowing Batman’s partners, such as Jim Gordon and Renee Montoya, to play bigger roles. It also introduces or highlights some of Gotham’s more obscure characters, including Onomatopoeia, Nocturna, and Gentleman Ghost.
3.) Clayface

Release Date: September 11, 2026
I’m incredibly excited about what DC Studios is building with their new universe, and the news about a Clayface movie really caught my attention! It sounds like it’s going to be a darker, more mature take on the character – an R-rated origin story, directed by James Watkins, focusing on Matt Hagen and his transformation into the shape-shifting villain we know as Clayface. Tom Rhys Harries seems like a fantastic choice to play the role, and I can’t wait to see how they bring this dangerous enemy of Batman to life.
Unlike previous DC films which had larger budgets, Clayface is notable for taking a daring approach by prominently featuring intense body horror—something rarely seen in superhero stories. It also gives audiences their first real glimpse of Gotham City as it will be portrayed in the new DC Universe.
I’m incredibly excited for Clayface, and honestly, so is everyone else! There’s a lot of buzz that we might finally get to see this universe’s Batman, even if it’s just a quick shadowy appearance – or maybe even a full reveal! It’s building up to be a huge moment for fans.
Beyond offering a new spin on a well-known DC villain, the involvement of writer Mike Flanagan – the creator of shows like The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep – is a great reason to check out Clayface. He’s demonstrated a talent for crafting stories focused on compelling characters, especially within the horror genre.
2.) Lanterns

Release date: Early 2026
The upcoming HBO Max series, Lanterns, will delve into the world of DC’s Green Lanterns, focusing on the stories of key characters John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, and Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler.
While Green Lantern comics often feature epic, space-spanning adventures, the series Lanterns stands out by focusing on a more down-to-earth mystery. It’s a detective story with a buddy-cop dynamic, as Hal Jordan and John Stewart team up to investigate a murder that leads to a larger, hidden conspiracy.
Fans have another reason to look forward to Lanterns: its episode-by-episode structure will let the show explore the Green Lantern universe in more detail. This means we’ll learn more about characters like Sinestro, the Guardians of OA, and Hal Jordan’s early days as a Green Lantern – which will make sense, since the series starts with him already experienced.
Although Superman briefly showed us how effective Green Lanterns are in a fight thanks to Guy Gardner, featuring the Lantern Corps more fully would be a huge win for fans. Seeing Hal Jordan and John Stewart – two of the most famous Green Lanterns in DC Comics history – team up on screen would finally deliver the definitive partnership that DC fans have been wanting for years.
1.) Supergirl

Release date: June 26, 2026
After the positive reception to Superman and Supergirl’s brief appearance at the end, the most eagerly awaited project in the new DC Universe is the Supergirl movie. Starring Milly Alcock, the film will be based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. It’s been confirmed that Supergirl will be a space-based adventure in the style of James Gunn’s popular Guardians of the Galaxy films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The new Supergirl movie isn’t just a fresh spin on the character – it’s very different from the version we saw in the Arrowverse, as hinted at in Superman‘s finale. It also boasts a fantastic cast, introducing Jason Momoa as Lobo and Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain, Krem. There’s a lot of buzz that David Corenswet, who plays Superman, might make a cameo appearance, too. (You can find more details about a possible Superman appearance in Supergirl here.)
Within the larger Superman storyline, Supergirl is predicted to be a key player in the future of the DC Universe, and her story might offer hints about the upcoming 2027 film, Man of Tomorrow.
