The movie appears to be on track for success! Recent test screenings suggest it delivers everything fans of the original 80s cartoon and toys would want. The runtime also seems appropriate for modern films.
Initial responses to Amazon MGM Studios’ new Masters of the Universe movie have been overwhelmingly positive, with many online calling it “amazing.” Along with details about the film’s visuals and characters, reports indicate it has a runtime of approximately two hours – a good length that should keep audiences entertained without being overly long.
The film’s expected length suggests it will be a satisfying watch, potentially leaving audiences eager for more – which is ideal if the creators plan to make sequels. Although nothing is official and the movie could still be edited, it currently looks like the final cut will be around two hours long and released next summer.
‘Masters of the Universe’ Will Release a Trailer Soon

Early test screenings showed some unfinished visual effects, but offered a good enough look at the film to leave viewers pleased. With enough footage now completed, a trailer is expected to be released shortly.
Fans are anticipating the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday to be shown with Avatar: Fire and Ash this December. Along with the trailer, the teaser footage that debuted at Comic Con earlier this year is also expected to be released. This makes sense, as studios typically start promoting summer blockbusters around this time. With Masters of the Universe already deep into editing, it’s clear there’s enough footage ready to share, and a trailer is likely coming soon.
For months, fans have seen a few sneak peeks related to the upcoming movie, but haven’t yet seen any actual clips. Amazon MGM Studios did share a photo of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, and some of the actors posted hints about their costumes and makeup as filming finished. Notably absent from all promotional materials so far has been Jared Leto, who plays the villain Skeletor. Some speculated his lack of appearance was intentional, given his recent movies haven’t performed well in theaters, but positive feedback from a test screening of his portrayal of Skeletor suggests that’s likely not the case.
The cast of Masters of the Universe is packed with stars, including Galitzine, Leto, Alison Brie, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Sam C. Wilson, Kojo Attah, Hafþór Björnsson, Morena Baccarin, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, and Jon Xue Zhang. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
