The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly expanding with new movies and shows available in theaters and on Disney+. Fans who have followed the series for years have clear favorites, and Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther is consistently at the top of that list. People love the world of Wakanda and fondly remember Chadwick Boseman, who played the original Black Panther. Recently, Boseman’s wife shared what she believes the next actor to take on the role will need to embody.
Ryan Coogler is working on the next Black Panther movie, which fans are eagerly awaiting. The previous film, Wakanda Forever, introduced Shuri as the new Black Panther, but she decided against taking on the role of ruler. Recently, Chadwick Boseman received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and his wife, Simone, shared with Entertainment Tonight what qualities she believes the next Black Panther should possess to honor his memory.
It’s a lot of responsibility to have to evaluate someone like Chad. Considering his background and everything he’s experienced, it felt like all his past efforts had come together perfectly for this opportunity – a real full-circle moment.
Chadwick Boseman clearly recognized how significant his role as Black Panther was, both within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and to fans around the world. He became an inspirational figure, particularly for young Black fans who were thrilled to finally see a hero who looked like them. He understood the power of representation and the impact his role had on people.

For example, after Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020, fans sent thousands of letters to the actor who played his father in movies. He also often pleasantly surprised fans of Black Panther with his kindness. His wife, Simone Ledward Boseman, shared more about how deeply he understood the significance of his roles, saying:
He truly embodied that regal quality. T’Challa was that king – dignified, wise, and possessing excellent judgment. That ability to discern and make good choices was a key part of his character.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been working to become more inclusive, but Chadwick Boseman’s first appearance as T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War was a landmark moment for representation. When Ryan Coogler then brought together a brilliant cast and crew for Black Panther, it captured global attention – and the Academy’s.
In addition to good judgment, Chadwick Boseman’s wife shared another quality she’d like to see in future Black Panther actors. She explained to the publication:
And kindness. Real, sincere kindness, and the desire to lift up those around you.
This generosity is just one more reason why so many people admired the actor. He was known for his kindness, particularly towards Marvel fans who loved his portrayal of T’Challa.
It’s currently unclear what director Ryan Coogler has planned for the next Black Panther film, though Denzel Washington has mentioned he’s being considered for a part. The last movie, Wakanda Forever, ended with several unanswered questions, including the introduction of T’Challa’s son. We’ll have to wait to find out what happens next in this popular series.
Shuri and M’Baku will appear in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18th of next year. It’s currently being developed as part of the 2026 film slate. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, a third Black Panther movie is also in the works.
