Microsoft wants the Xbox app to be the central hub for PC and Windows handheld gamers. They’ve released an update that now includes games from other popular stores, letting players launch all their titles from one place.
For a few months, Xbox Insiders have been testing a feature that brings together games from different stores. Now, all Xbox PC app users can see and launch games they own from Steam, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and other popular platforms, all within the Xbox app. The app also tracks your recently played games, regardless of where they’re installed.
The Xbox app includes a dedicated section for apps, giving you access to other app stores and web browsers so you can install and play games from places other than the Xbox store. You can also customize the app’s settings to hide games from specific stores if you prefer.
Xbox is simplifying how you discover, download, and play games. Now, you can find everything you need all in one place – the Xbox app. Find out more here:

Just before the ROG Xbox Ally launches on October 16th, a significant update is rolling out. Xbox Ally users will be able to easily play all their installed games, even those from different stores, using a new combined library feature. Plus, the Xbox app is getting an update later this month to keep your cloud games and recently played titles synchronized across all your devices, as reported by Xbox Wire.
While programs like GOG Galaxy and Playnite combine games from all your different libraries, Xbox is focusing on letting you easily continue your games on any device. The Xbox app also works with controllers, so you can start your games with a gamepad if you prefer.
While this update is a great improvement for Xbox, it still has a few issues. Currently, the Xbox app doesn’t display cover art or details for games not originally made for Xbox. When you select these games, you’ll mostly see a blank screen with just a button to start playing and a link to the game’s store page. Despite this, it’s a significant advancement for the Xbox platform, and we can expect further improvements in the future.
