Cody Rhodes, the professional wrestler known from WWE, shared that Nintendo previously sent him a legal notice asking him to stop wearing his wrestling boots, which were designed with a Zelda theme.
Rhodes is a big fan of The Legend of Zelda and showed his dedication by getting a Triforce tattoo on his finger.
He was a big fan of video game series, and that passion showed in his wrestling gear. Early in his WWE career, he wore boots inspired by Zelda, complete with the famous Triforce symbol.
On his podcast, ‘What Do You Wanna Talk About?’, Cody Rhodes shared that Nintendo asked him to stop wearing a particular pair of boots.
Nintendo stepped in over WWE Zelda boots
Rhodes shared that he received a cease and desist letter from Nintendo, but described it as a surprisingly pleasant experience. He clarified they weren’t pursuing legal action and seemed to be understanding. He playfully added that he wasn’t the first person to use the Triforce symbol, implying it’s a common fan creation.
The wrestler then shared the story behind his famous boots, explaining how the design inspired by the Triforce resonated with him on a personal and career level.
He explained that in the Zelda games, Zelda represents wisdom, Link embodies courage, and Ganon represents power – these three qualities form the Triforce. He added that he was drawn to the concept of using your own knowledge and experience to guide your actions.

It takes ambition and bravery to pursue power in the competitive world of sports and entertainment. I found that relatable and admirable.
Nintendo is well-known for strongly protecting its games. Over time, they’ve taken legal action against those who illegally copy them, sometimes seeking millions in damages, and have also closed down projects created by fans.
In March, Nintendo of America sued the U.S. government, asking for its money back from tariffs paid due to trade policies put in place during Donald Trump’s presidency.
