Wuthering Waves Hiyuki Build Guide: Best Weapons, Teams, Echoes, and More

Hiyuki is now available in Phase 1 of the Wuthering Waves 3.3 update, and she’s proving to be a strong damage dealer with her Glacio Sword. Her abilities revolve around managing multiple Forte bars and using her two Liberations. While her kit might seem complicated initially, it’s actually quite straightforward once you have a good build and understand how she operates.

Hiyuki is a unique damage dealer in Wuthering Waves. Unlike most characters, a large portion of her power comes from a special type of attack called Resonance Liberation. Plus, her abilities, Glacio Chafe and Glacio Bite, work together in a complex way, making her build a little tricky – which is typical for games made by Kuro Games.

To maximize Hiyuki’s potential, you’ll want to pair her with teammates who can inflict helpful status effects. This guide will cover everything you need to create the best Hiyuki build, including optimal weapon choices, Echoes to equip, and team compositions.

Hiyuki Kit and Build Overview in Wuthering Waves 3.3

Hiyuki is a powerful 5-star character who uses a sword and specializes in dealing damage as a main DPS. She’s a Glacio Resonator, meaning she alternates between two forms to consistently attack, and her most powerful attacks, called Fortes, are key to maximizing her damage output.

In combat, Hiyuki cycles between two primary states:

  • Present Self – Builds up Dedication using basic attacks, skills, and intro abilities
  • Foreclaimed Self – Converts that energy into Frostheart and big burst damage

After building up her strength with Foreclaimed Self, she can unleash her ultimate attack, dealing a large amount of damage. Here’s a typical sequence of actions you’ll want to follow:

  1. Enter the field with her intro and start building Dedication (Present Self)
  2. Use Heavy attack to consume her forte and perform the Heavy Arrow attack
  3. Then change into Foreclaimed Self by using her first Liberation (ult)
  4. Between basic attacks, use her skill twice, and also use your echo skill here
  5. Once you’ve filled up the Sword Forte meter, use dash+basic attacks to consume the three Forte charges.
  6. Finally, use a heavy attack to fully deplete the Forte bar and use her second Liberation to consume stacks for a massive nuke

It might seem complicated at first, but with practice, this process flows easily and offers a lot of options for how you do it.

Hiyuki introduces two new abilities: Glacio Chafe and Glacio Bite. When paired with the right teammates, she can turn enemy status effects into increased damage and significantly boost her own power through passive abilities.

That is why her build is heavily centered on maximizing her personal damage.

Is Hiyuki Good in the Meta?

Hiyuki is a powerful damage dealer, capable of dealing massive damage, particularly for players who enjoy mastering complex attack patterns. She excels at taking down both single enemies and groups thanks to her abilities, which have significant damage boosts and strong, focused bursts of power.

She’s strong because she can be effective even without a perfect team, as she can apply and benefit from her own Glacio Chafe ability. However, she really shines when teamed up with someone who can help her quickly build up her stacking bonuses.

Currently, her team synergy isn’t quite perfect, but she’ll likely receive more dedicated support in updates. Overall, Hiyuki is a great investment if you’re looking for a powerful Glacio damage dealer with a promising future.

Hiyuki Skill Upgrade Priority in Wuthering Waves 3.3

Hiyuki deals the most damage when certain skills are prioritized, so it’s important to level those up first.

Priority should be:

  1. Resonance Liberation
  2. Basic Attack
  3. Forte Circuit
  4. Resonance Skill
  5. Intro Skill

Focus on maximizing her Resonance Liberation first, as it’s her biggest source of damage. Also, prioritize improving her basic attacks, since both of her forms rely on them a lot.

Next, focus on leveling up her Forte Circuit skill. It significantly improves her transformations and Forte abilities. While Resonance and Intro skills are still helpful, they aren’t as important to prioritize right away – you can level those later.

Best Weapons for Hiyuki in Wuthering Waves 3.3

Hiyuki performs best with her standard weapon, which is noticeably stronger – about 20-25% better – than the Emerald of Genesis. However, she still has some good options available if you haven’t unlocked that particular weapon.

Best-in-Slot: Frostburn

Hiyuki’s special sword, Frostburn, is designed to perfectly complement her abilities. It provides the stats she needs and significantly increases the damage of her Glacio and Resonance Liberation attacks. Plus, it makes her even more effective when applying Glacio Chafe, a core component of her fighting style.

This weapon works best with her playstyle, making it our top pick.

Strong 5-Star Alternative: Emerald of Genesis

The Emerald of Genesis is a great all-around choice for Hiyuki. Its Energy Regen and Attack boosts help make her abilities flow more smoothly, especially if you’re still working on perfecting her build.

While it won’t feel quite like her usual weapon, this is a very dependable choice and one of the best swords available that isn’t her signature blade.

Other Usable Options

Red Spring is a good choice for boosting stats, mainly because it significantly increases offensive power. While not all of its special abilities work perfectly with Hiyuki, it still provides a valuable damage boost.

Feather Edge is a strong 4-star option, particularly when fully upgraded. It works very well with builds that focus on increasing her Resonance Liberation damage.

Both Fables of Wisdom and Commando of Conviction are decent options if you’re looking for something affordable, but they don’t quite measure up to the best available choices.

When choosing a weapon, focus on stats like Critical Rate, Critical Damage, Attack, or bonuses that boost Liberation effects.

Best Echo Set for Hiyuki in Wuthering Waves 3.3

Hiyuki’s strongest artifact set is Wishes of Quiet Snowfall. It complements her abilities exceptionally well, encouraging the playstyle she’s designed for.

Best Set: Wishes of Quiet Snowfall

This equipment set increases the damage dealt by her Glacio abilities. Wearing the full set enhances her effectiveness when she applies Glacio Chafe. It also provides the Snowfall buff, significantly boosting her Critical Hit Rate when she triggers Resonance Liberation damage.

This setup works perfectly for characters who rely heavily on their special ability, as it significantly boosts their overall performance. It’s obviously made for Hiyuki and will be a great investment for the future.

Temporary Alternative: Freezing Frost

If you haven’t gotten the new gear yet, Freezing Frost is a good choice for now. It’s easy to use and works well in many situations, giving her a solid increase to Glacio damage.

It is not her optimal set, but it is perfectly usable until you finish farming the dedicated one.

Best Main Echo

When Hiyuki uses Wishes of Quiet Snowfall, the best main Echo to equip is Reminiscence: Threnodian – Voidborne Construct. This combination significantly boosts her Glacio DMG and Resonance Liberation DMG, making her much more powerful.

If you are using Freezing Frost, Lampylumen Myriad is the better main Echo choice.

Best Echo Main Stats and Substats

Hiyuki uses a standard DPS Echo layout.

The recommended setup is:

  • 4-Cost: Crit Rate or Crit DMG
  • 3-Cost: Glacio DMG Bonus
  • 3-Cost: Glacio DMG Bonus or ATK%
  • 1-Cost: ATK%
  • 1-Cost: ATK%

For substats, focus on:

  • Crit Rate
  • Crit DMG
  • ATK%
  • Energy Regen
  • Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus

If your Crit Rate is already high, focusing on Energy Recharge can be really helpful. It ensures she can use her abilities consistently and have her powerful attacks ready when you need them. Because most of her damage comes from her special moves and enhanced attacks, anything that improves those abilities is a great benefit.

Best Teams for Hiyuki in Wuthering Waves 3.3

Hiyuki performs best when her teams focus on maximizing her quick damage, helping her build up her special ability, and ensuring her attacks flow smoothly.

Premium Team

Hiyuki / Lynae / Chisa

This team is currently the most well-rounded and effective choice. Lynae provides excellent offensive power and can also contribute as a secondary damage dealer, while Chisa is crucial for maximizing Hiyuki’s abilities through their combined effects. Overall, this setup gives Hiyuki the best possible support.

Premium Variant

Hiyuki / Lynae / Mornye

This team is a great choice, particularly if you’re looking for powerful buffs that benefit everyone and a consistently smooth experience. It continues to effectively support Hiyuki’s burst damage and can be very satisfying to play.

Glacio-Focused Team

Hiyuki / Zhezhi / Chisa

This team focuses on boosting Glacio’s abilities and remains highly effective. Zhezhi enhances Glacio’s power and provides damage even when not actively in combat, and Chisa maintains important status effect combinations.

Liberation-Focused Team

Hiyuki / Changli / Shorekeeper

This team focuses on maximizing damage and helps Hiyuki deal a lot of raw power. It’s a great choice if you prefer a straightforward, high-damage approach instead of relying on building up status effects.

Free-to-Play Team

Hiyuki / Sanhua / Verina

This team is simple to create and surprisingly effective. Sanhua offers great help, and Verina is still one of the most reliable characters for keeping your team alive.

Hiyuki is already a strong attacker, but she becomes even more powerful when her teammates help her trigger her special ability. A good support team can significantly increase her overall effectiveness.

Hiyuki Resonance Chains

Hiyuki’s Resonance Chains offer some very strong upgrades, but a few stand out more than the rest.

Best Early Stopping Points

As a fan, I’m really excited about S1! It feels like a huge improvement to the character – not only does it boost her damage, but it also makes playing her so much more fun and fluid. Plus, the changes to her attacks and crowd control are a game-changer for quality of life.

Stopping at S2 is also a great choice, as it increases her Iai damage and makes her combat sequence smoother.

Reaching level 3 significantly boosts her power, especially when using Glacio Bite, and dramatically increases the amount of damage she can deal.

Strong Higher-End Options

S4 gives valuable team damage support and some sustain.

S5 is decent, but not a major game-changer compared with her earlier nodes.

Upgrading to S6 greatly boosts Hiyuki’s damage output, especially in quick bursts, and allows her to reach her full potential. It’s the ultimate goal for dedicated Hiyuki players.

Most players find stopping at Season 1 or Season 3 to be the sweet spot. If you continue past that, her damage really starts to become incredibly high at Season 6.

Hiyuki Ascension and Forte Materials

To fully develop Hiyuki, you’ll need to collect both character ascension materials and Forte materials.

For ascension, the materials include:

  • Exoswarm Cores
  • Our Choice
  • Redbell
  • Shell Credits

For Forte upgrades, you will also need:

  • Polarizer materials
  • Exoswarm Cores
  • We Who Question (Weekly-boss drop)
  • Shell Credits

That’s all there is to it! Hiyuki is a strong damage dealer specializing in Ice-type attacks. She has a cool and effective skillset, deals a lot of damage quickly, and has potential to become even better with future updates and team combinations. While it takes a bit of practice to master her moves, she’s a very satisfying character to play once you get the hang of her.
