A ticket to Haiti’s first 2026 World Cup match against Scotland would cost the average Haitian fan the equivalent of nearly 25 years’ salary, highlighting the significant financial barrier to attending the tournament.
In just under a month, the World Cup will be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This year’s tournament is the largest ever, featuring 48 teams, but preparations haven’t been completely smooth.
Besides the difficulty of getting to some stadiums, fans are most concerned about the high cost of attending games – including tickets, hotels, and travel expenses, which often increase when visiting different states.
Tickets for most games are very expensive, particularly the final match. A recent report shows just how much it would cost people in different countries to buy a ticket to see their national team play in the opening game.
Haiti fans would have to work 25 years to buy World Cup ticket
Okay, so I was reading about how expensive it is for Haitian fans to see their national team play in the US. Apparently, if you’re from Haiti and want to go to their first game against Scotland in Foxborough, Massachusetts, it could cost you almost half of what you’d earn in a lifetime! Seriously, that’s a crazy amount of money just to watch a soccer game.
The cheapest ticket to the game costs $774, according to Ticketmaster. For someone earning Haiti’s minimum wage, it would take roughly 24.6 years – or over 9,000 days – to earn enough to cover the ticket, travel to the city, buy a hot dog and a drink, and spend the night.
They also pointed out that fans in Iran and Panama would likely face similar delays, taking around 6 years and 8.9 years, respectively, to finally see their teams play their first matches.

Okay, so FIFA finally addressed the whole ticket price craziness. Apparently, they’re saying it’s not their fault prices are insane – some resellers are listing final tickets for over two million dollars! They’re putting the blame on those guys, not themselves. It’s pretty wild to see, honestly.
Okay, so get this – the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, was saying that if anyone actually drops two million bucks on a World Cup final ticket, he’ll personally bring them a hot dog and a Coke! Can you believe that? It’s kinda funny, but also…wow, those tickets are expensive!
However, they’re donating $1 from every World Cup ticket sold – including those for the final with its halftime show – to support education worldwide.
