Some Christians are adopting a ‘biblical eating‘ lifestyle, where they look to the Bible for guidance on what foods to include or exclude from their diet.
The connection between Christian faith and eating habits has been explored for years. Books like ‘The Eden Diet’ and ‘The Maker’s Diet’ appeared as early as 2004, and the ‘Daniel Fast’ – a 21-day plan inspired by the Book of Daniel – has gained popularity, with celebrities such as Chris Pratt and Mark Wahlberg participating.
Recently, this type of eating plan has gained popularity online, thanks to creators like Annalies Xaviera and Kayla Bundy. Bundy even says it dramatically improved her skin, hair, and overall mental well-being.
The diet explained
Ben Bundy follows a diet based on foods mentioned in the Bible. This mainly includes things like bone broth, raw milk, sardines, and traditionally-made sourdough bread – avoiding modern commercial yeasts – as well as fresh, local produce.
Bundy explains her dietary approach on her website, stating that food was created by a higher power before humans existed. She believes that eating in alignment with this natural order leads to quick and noticeable improvements in your health.
Xaviera explained that she focuses on eating natural, unprocessed foods and cooking at home, while avoiding added sugars.
TikTok influencer Bundy, with over half a million followers, admits she isn’t a nutrition expert. Despite this, she sells a $28 guide to ‘biblical superfoods’ and offers coaching services for $700 per month, according to The New York Times. Xaviera, who has gained 300,000 Facebook followers by sharing her diet, also profits by selling a digital cookbook.
Xaviera suggests her followers turn to God when deciding what to eat. She asks, “If you’re really wanting something, have you ever considered pausing to pray about it?”
The Bible isn’t the only religious element being used for profit. There’s now an AI version of Jesus you can chat with for a fee, and even a holographic AI Jesus taking confessions in Switzerland.
