A TikTok user became an internet sensation after finding approximately $2,000 inside an old piggy bank she purchased for just $10.99 at a thrift store.
One of the biggest trends on TikTok is watching people find great deals at thrift stores and on online marketplaces like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. It’s especially popular when they then fix up those items and resell them for a profit.
Videos like these have become incredibly popular, gaining millions of views, and people are constantly trying to create their own versions hoping for the same results.
TikTok user Miles8Katrina had a lucky find while thrifting! She bought a vintage piggy bank at Goodwill in December and discovered it was filled with cash. “I can’t believe this isn’t plastic, it’s money!” she exclaimed. After counting, she found a total of $2028 inside.
Woman finds over $2k in vintage piggy bank
The first video, posted on December 4th, is nearing 1 million views and has generated a lot of questions from people watching it.
I’ve been following this TikToker and she’s been posting a bunch of cool videos! One in particular, where she showed the oldest notes she’d discovered, has gone totally viral – it’s already been viewed over 950,000 times!
Among her collection are several bills from the 1990s, including a $100 bill that could be valuable to a collector. She also has a bill with a signature on it, but she doesn’t know who signed it.
I felt bad about finding it, wondering if someone had mistakenly donated it,” the TikToker explained. “I called the store to see if anyone had asked about a missing piggy bank, but they said no. I didn’t tell them I’d found it, though.
Looks like I’m taking all of this with me! This is a reminder to go thrifting – you can discover some amazing things!
These videos have become a popular source of entertainment for TikTok users, and many are encouraging Katrina to spend generously during the holidays.
So, I got this crazy message with a donation – someone apparently cleared out their grandma’s house and just… gave it to me! They were super insistent I not send it back, saying it’d be like jinxing myself and losing all my good luck. One person even suggested if I felt bad about getting free stuff, I should do something nice like fulfill some wishes from an angel tree. It’s wild, honestly!
