A woman is gaining attention online after responding to her neighbors’ new baby – who kept her awake at night – by playing recordings of a baby crying.
Babies are adorable, but they can also be really challenging, particularly if you’re not the parent! They can be noisy, messy, and disrupt your sleep.
It’s normal for a new baby’s crying to stay within a home, but one woman found that her neighbors’ baby was so loud, it began to bother her.
A woman using the name ‘MKaylaUltra’ on X is responding to a noisy baby by playing baby sounds in her apartment. She claims this has led to threats of eviction from her landlord.
Woman plays baby noises after neighbor’s baby won’t stop crying
MKaylaUltra shared screenshots online showing a conversation with her landlord in Seattle after receiving noise complaints from her neighbors.
Brandy, your landlord, told you your neighbor has complained about noise again. She’s mentioned this issue before, and this is your last warning before she takes official action against your lease.
MKaylaUltra defended her performance, pointing out that imitating a baby’s cry wasn’t much different from a real baby crying. She even stated she worked to make the sounds indistinguishable.
As a parent, I’ve been trying something a little different with my baby’s crying. I actually measured how loud their cries get, and I make sure to never play any sounds louder than that level. I keep track of when and for how long my baby cries, and then I’ll replay those same crying sounds – but on different days, of course – for the exact same duration. It’s a weird thing I’m doing, but I’m hoping it helps!
My neighbors’ new baby cries almost all day, and now I’m getting a notice that I’ve broken the terms of my lease. It’s frustrating because I wish I’d known someone on the floor was planning a family – I wouldn’t have rented here if I had.

So, I heard from MKaylaUltra that she’s got a really cool setup – she’s actually stuck her speaker on a Roomba! It drives around her apartment, so the sound seems to come from all over the place, which is pretty wild.
However, this didn’t convince the landlord, who sided with the neighbors, explaining that babies naturally cry.
“You are harassing your neighbors. If it continues to happen, you will get a lease violation.”
The post caused a lot of discussion, as the woman said she wouldn’t have rented the apartment if she’d known a neighbor on her floor was planning to have a baby.
Although a lot of people agreed with the neighbors and labeled the user’s behavior as erratic, others understood her annoyance with constant baby noises throughout most of the day.
We need to wait and see how things unfold with the landlord and others, and whether this turns into a legal issue.
