In 2014, the game developers at Machine Games revived the iconic Wolfenstein shooter series originally created by id Software with the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order. Subsequent installments, including Wolfenstein: The New Colossus in 2017 and Wolfenstein: Youngblood in 2019, followed suit. Since then, a VR game called Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot was released in 2019, but the creative director of Machine Games, Axel Torvenius, is eager to continue the story of protagonist William “B.J.” Blazkowicz in another chapter of the series.
During an interview for a Wolfenstein documentary by Noclip, Torvenius remarked that they’ve always viewed the Wolfenstein series as a trilogy. Even from the early stages of developing The New Order, they had a clear vision for B.J.’s character and the storyline throughout the trilogy. He emphasized this point because he believes there’s still more to come in the Wolfenstein saga.
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel a thrill when I hear whispers about the potential return of one of my favorites: Wolfenstein. Although no official news has dropped yet regarding a third game, it seems Amazon is cooking something up – a Wolfenstein TV series for their Prime Video platform!
Kilter Films, who’ve worked their magic on Prime Video’s Fallout series, is joining forces with Machine Games to bring this show to life. The storyline details are still under wraps, but there’s buzz that it will follow the reboot’s narrative path. Can’t wait to see what twists and turns await us in this captivating universe!
Microsoft now owns Machine Games following the ZeniMax acquisition. The studio’s latest release was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a continuation of the Wolfenstein series’ Nazi-fighting storyline. Earlier this month, they launched the first DLC expansion for the game titled Indiana Jones And The Order Of Giants. In 2026, Machine Games and Bethesda will bring Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to Nintendo Switch 2.
