Subnautica 2 features a wide variety of rocks and minerals to collect. You’ll find useful materials like Titanium, Quartz for making glass, and even Gold for more complex crafting. No matter what you discover, you’ll need to gather a significant amount of it!
Lithium is similar to other resources, but unlike common finds like titanium and quartz which are plentiful, it’s much rarer and takes more effort to locate.
Lithium is rare and yields less material when mined. If you’re searching for Lithium in Subnautica 2, here are some good places to look. Let’s dive in!
Lithium Location
South of Spawn

I’ve discovered three main locations where you can find Lithium, and each one becomes available at a different stage of the game.
Okay, so I found this first piece of Lithium pretty early on. You don’t need anything special to get it. Head about 280 to 300 meters south of where you start, and then dive down around 90 meters. You’ll see a big shipwreck, and near it is this weird, broken cage thing. The Lithium is inside, just sitting there waiting to be collected!
If you’re not using a Tadpole, make sure to pack an Air Bladder. It can launch you about 100 meters into the air in just a few seconds!
Nearby, there’s another unusual sight. If you head a little south of where the Lithium appears, you’ll see a massive set of jaws sticking out of the ground. Inside them is a peculiar blue ship covered in red, vine-like strands.
As you swim closer, you’ll see several Lithium formations inside. To reach them, you need to carefully navigate around the strands, avoiding contact. If you break two of these strands, the structure will clamp shut, and you’ll have to swim away quickly to escape.
You’ll also need a Sonic Resonator to collect Lithium, but be careful! Using it can accidentally pull you back into the strands while you’re mining.
Fire Caves
You’ll discover this area a bit further into Subnautica 2, once you’ve obtained your second Angel Comb. Look southwest of the Tadpole Pens for a network of volcanic caves.
These caves are full of Lithium deposits you can mine from the walls. It’s a safe place to gather resources, much easier than dealing with those Giant Clams we saw earlier!
How to Use Lithium
For the most part, you’re going to be using Lithium in the production of Plasteel Ingots.

You can make these by using a Processor and combining 2 Lithium with 1 Titanium ingot. This is especially helpful when crafting a High-Capacity Air Tank and the upgraded Tadpole!
