On September 29, 2017, Sandy McKellar went to a hunting event and had too much to drink, exceeding the legal alcohol limit. He then drove with his twin brother, Robert, and tragically hit Tony Parsons, a cancer survivor who was cycling across Scotland for charity.
Instead of calling the police, the brothers secretly buried the body on the property where Sandy was employed, and he later admitted this to Caroline.
Muirhead quickly reported the incident to the police and then assisted in gathering evidence, including obtaining a confession from her fiancé. This assistance led to the arrest and prosecution of the McKellar brothers.
So, I was reading about this crazy case – back in 2023, a guy named Sandy McKellar admitted to manslaughter and trying to cover things up. He’s doing 12 years in a Scottish prison for it. Another guy, Robert, also pleaded guilty to trying to obstruct justice and got five years. It’s a pretty wild story, honestly.

Caroline Muirhead is now living near the seaside, and in a committed relationship.
After facing challenges with substance use following the Sandy Hook tragedy, Caroline is now sober and working on repairing relationships with her family and friends that were strained during her previous relationship.
Creating the documentary forced me to confront some very difficult memories, which wasn’t easy at all,” Muirhead explained. “However, it was also incredibly healing. I feel hopeful about the future and ready to move forward with my life, something I haven’t felt in years.
Honestly, I really hope that by sharing my story, we can finally start talking openly about how to better protect people who go through tough times, especially when they’re involved with the police or courts. It’s clear to me that everyone in the system – cops, lawyers, judges – needs to understand mental health way better. It’s not just about justice, it’s about helping people who are already hurting.
