If you just finished watching the second part of Stranger Things and felt a bit let down, like something was missing, you’re not alone. The final episode isn’t available yet – it will be released at a later date.
Netflix announced the date for the final episode, and it will be released in a special way compared to the other episodes this season.
Stranger Things Season 5 finale release date & time
The final episode of Stranger Things Season 5 will be available on Netflix on December 31, 2025, at 5pm Pacific Time / 8pm Eastern Time.
Viewers in the Americas – including the US, Argentina, Brazil, and Canada – will be able to watch the last episode on New Year’s Eve.
For viewers elsewhere, though, the episode lands slightly later due to time zones:
- UK and Europe: January 1, 2026 (early morning)
- Asia: January 1, 2026
- Australia & Oceania: January 1, 2026
Why is the finale releasing separately?
The final part of the series is being released separately from the rest of the episodes. Netflix and the creators decided to make Episode 8 a big, individual event instead of releasing it with the other episodes all at once.
The Duffer brothers recently told TheWrapped that Netflix suggested splitting the final season into two parts, and they agreed it was a good idea to release them in theaters first.
The latest episode, titled “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up,” is the longest one yet, clocking in at 2 hours and 8 minutes.
Stranger Things Season 5 release schedule
Season 5 has been split into three parts:
- Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4): November 26, 2025
- Volume 2 (Episodes 5-7): December 25, 2025
- The Finale (Episode 8): December 31, 2025
That’s right, the final episode of Stranger Things takes place on New Year’s Eve. Before then, you can find out who doesn’t make it through Volume 2 and whether the awkward scene between Nancy and Jonathan signaled the end of their relationship.
