Over a year ago, Ubisoft said filming for the Watch Dogs movie was complete. However, the film’s lead actor, Tom Blyth, recently revealed that some cast members returned to film additional scenes.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Blyth explained that he filmed some additional scenes to further improve the movie.
Blyth didn’t say what the reshoots involved, but they’re a normal part of filmmaking and don’t always mean there’s a problem. He did reveal something important about the Watch Dogs movie, though: it won’t be a direct adaptation of the game and will have a very different story.
Blyth said they were very impressed with how the game was adapted into a film. It doesn’t feel like a simple translation of the game; instead, it stands on its own and feels like the start of something much larger, a whole new world being created.
In the 2023 movie *The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes*, a prequel to *The Hunger Games*, Tom Blyth played the younger version of Coriolanus Snow.
In addition to Jovan Jovanović, the Watch Dogs movie features Sophie Wilde, known for her role in Talk to Me, and Markella Kavenagh from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The film is directed by Mathieu Turi, who also directs the upcoming A Plague Tale TV series.
Originally announced in 2013, before the first Watch Dogs game came out in 2014, the movie project started at Sony Pictures but later moved to New Regency.
The video game Watch Dogs was a hit, leading to two sequels: Watch Dogs 2 (released in 2016) and Watch Dogs Legion (2020). All three games take place in open-world versions of cities like Chicago, San Francisco, and London, and focus on futuristic hacking and technology. Despite the success of the games, details about the upcoming movie – including where and when it will be set, and what the story will be – haven’t been revealed yet.
