The man who became an internet sensation for observing his dachshund while dressed in an inflatable sausage dog costume has shared the reason behind his unusual behavior.
People love watching dog videos online, and dachshunds are particularly popular. These playful little dogs, often called sausage dogs, are known for their funny antics and ability to brighten your day.
Okay, so you won’t believe this guy! There’s this Canadian gamer, Rich Luchford – he goes by Undercover Daschund online – and he’s totally blowing up on social media. He’s been walking his dog, Mia, and gets this… he’s wearing a full-on inflatable dachshund costume while he does it! It’s hilarious and everyone’s sharing it. I saw it and had to tell someone!
Luchford often shares videos showing things from his point of view, but people frequently film him from the outside, which usually results in funny moments.

The roofer said he didn’t realize his actions would become so popular, but he simply wanted to brighten people’s day while walking his dog.
He explained to CTV News that people often react with confusion when they see him, but others smile, and he uses those smiles to show what it’s all about. He’s even had people yell, pull over, and exclaim in surprise before driving away.
Luchford was praised by the mayor of Whitby for spreading joy and positivity throughout the town.

He doesn’t just wear the suit for special events – he wears it every day on his dog walks! He’s also hoping to start a ‘Wiener Dog Wednesday’ get-together where dachshund owners can join him for walks, though costumes aren’t required for them.
Mr. Luchford’s wife and daughter have mentioned wanting another dog, and they’ve specifically said they’d like a dachshund.
He said if he could earn enough money to support himself, he’d happily quit his job and spend his days at home with a pair of dachshunds.
He also has goals of appearing at a Toronto Blue Jays game with Mia, so that she can run the bases.
