Two men are facing charges after a street racing event disrupted IShowSpeed’s livestream during his “Speed Does America” tour in Oakland.
Axel Cisnerosmentos and Aron Anaya are each charged with misdemeanors by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. They are accused of organizing an illegal street gathering – known as a sideshow – and helping to arrange an unlawful speed contest.
The situation happened while IShowSpeed – also known as Darren Watkins Jr. – was visiting Oakland in 2025 for his ‘Speed Does America’ livestream tour. He stopped by Hyphy Burger on West Grand Avenue, near Market Street in West Oakland, and things quickly got out of hand.
Duo charged after IShowSpeed stream becomes dangerous
A large crowd gathered, hoping to catch a glimpse of the YouTuber IShowSpeed. To escape the overwhelming crowd, IShowSpeed and his team went up onto the roof of a nearby restaurant.
The intersection quickly became a lively scene with fireworks, customized lowrider cars, and cheering fans shouting “Speed!” Soon after, drivers started spinning their cars in circles on the pavement.
The livestream footage captured IShowSpeed appearing confused and worried as people rushed towards the cars doing tricks.
He questioned their actions, asking, “Why are they rushing to the car… do they not realize what’s happening?” He added that he couldn’t bear to continue watching.
The impromptu street gathering ultimately made it impossible for Speed to leave. Even as he tried to exit, he was swarmed by fans requesting pictures.
Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson stated that illegal street racing events, often shared online, are dangerous and that anyone organizing them will face legal consequences.
These illegal ‘sideshow’ events aren’t just fun and games, according to a recent statement. They frequently lead to vandalism, dangerous driving, injuries, and damage to property, creating a serious risk for everyone’s safety.
Cisnerosmentos and Anaya will appear in court on May 27th at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland to face the charges, according to the District Attorney’s office.
IShowSpeed hasn’t been connected to any issues regarding the incident. His visit to the Bay Area, specifically San Francisco, was incredibly popular, with fans joining him as he explored various landmarks during his current live-streaming tour.

Speed has continued to grow his YouTube channel, recently taking viewers on incredible trips to both Africa and the Caribbean. His African tour was particularly impactful, described as “life-changing.”
The YouTuber’s video reached as high as 1.92 million views while he was in the Dominican Republic, but he later told his audience that the numbers had been artificially inflated.
