The new Crafter Cape in Minecraft is already being flipped for profit, with pre-order codes showing up on eBay for as much as several hundred dollars even before TwitchCon Rotterdam starts.
On May 19th, Mojang announced two new capes for Minecraft players: the Crafter Cape and the Builder Cape. The Crafter Cape is available to those attending Minecraft’s TwitchCon Rotterdam event on May 30th and 31st. The Builder Cape is being offered online as an alternative for players who can’t make it to the event.
To get the exclusive Crafter Cape, people at TwitchCon need to grab an Inventory Ribbon and collect three Emerald Stickers. You can earn these stickers by going to certain Minecraft events or participating in activities at the convention. Once you have a completed ribbon, take it to the Cape Trader in the Minecraft Village. Minecraft will then give you a special Cape Card with a code to unlock the cape in the game, but you must redeem the code by June 30th.

Minecraft Crafter Cape codes appear on eBay
Although the exclusive cape was meant to be a free gift for people attending TwitchCon, it’s already being resold online for significant profit. Completed sales on eBay show the cape codes going for between $400 and $688, and one listing sold instantly for around $1,344.
Similar items are currently listed for around the same price. For example, one listing on eBay sold multiple codes for $750, and another sold some for $599.99.
Several online advertisements are offering capes as preorders for both the Java and Bedrock versions of the game, with shipping expected after the event on May 30th and 31st. For example, one listing on eBay described the item as a code for a Crafter Cape that works on both Java and Bedrock, while another advertised it as a preorder for a Crafter Cape specifically for TwitchCon 2026.
The popularity of reselling the Crafter Cape at TwitchCon is interesting because Minecraft’s official information states there’s no overall limit to how many capes are available. However, each person attending the event can only receive one. So, while there isn’t a fixed number of capes, they’re exclusively for those who physically attend TwitchCon.
If you can’t make it to TwitchCon, Minecraft is offering the Builder Cape as an online reward. They’ll share more information about how to get it during Minecraft Live on May 30th.
Okay, so as a Minecraft fan, I’ve been keeping up with the Crafter Cape situation. Just a heads-up: be careful if you’re thinking of buying a code from someone other than the official sources. Mojang hasn’t told us to get these codes from resale sites, and the only way they’ve said to get one is by completing the quest at TwitchCon and redeeming it directly on the Minecraft website. Basically, be careful and stick to the official method if you want to be sure it’s legit!
