Timothy Olyphant’s New R-Rated Thriller Remake Officially Scores Best RT Audience Score in 19 Years

Timothy Olyphant’s latest thriller is already proving popular with moviegoers after its recent theatrical release.

As a movie fan, I’ve always enjoyed Timothy Olyphant playing the bad guy, and his latest, Over Your Dead Body, doesn’t disappoint! It’s got Samara Weaving and Jason Segel leading the cast, and people are really loving it – it’s actually given Olyphant his highest audience score on Rotten Tomatoes in nearly twenty years. Seriously, it’s a fun ride!

Over Your Dead Body Is Close to Setting a New Record for Timothy Olyphant

As of today, critics give Over Your Dead Body a 69% approval rating based on 67 reviews – that number could change as more reviews are published. Viewers seem to love it even more, with an 81% audience score.

This is currently Bruce Willis’s highest-rated film. The movie earned a “Certified Fresh” rating with 82% approval from critics and 86% from audiences. If the new film, Over Your Dead Body, keeps this same score, it will likely be the second highest-rated movie of actor Timothy Olyphant’s career.

This R-rated thriller is performing slightly better than the 2009 film Deadwood: The Movie, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews – 98% from critics and 80% from viewers.

Samara Weaving stars in this new thriller about a couple hoping to rekindle their romance with a getaway to a secluded cabin. Unfortunately, both have secretly plotted to murder each other. Their plans are thrown into chaos when unexpected visitors arrive, holding them hostage and demanding money.

The movie Over Your Dead Body is a reimagining of the 2021 Norwegian film The Trip, originally co-written and directed by Tommy Wirkola. Jorma Taccone directed this new version, based on a screenplay by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney. The cast includes Hugo Weaving, Jason Segel, and Timothy Olyphant, along with Paul Guilfoyle, Keith Jardine, and Juliette Lewis.

Timothy Olyphant’s Shows Have Higher Scores

Although the movie Die Hard and the new thriller have good audience ratings, they don’t quite measure up to the popularity of shows starring Timothy Olyphant. His most highly-rated shows are Justified and Deadwood, both of which have a 95% audience approval rating, closely followed by Santa Clarita Diet at 94%.

As a huge TV fan, I was looking at some critical ratings, and it’s amazing how much praise certain shows get! Justified is right at the top with a phenomenal 97% approval rating. Close behind is Alien: Earth at 94%. And then you’ve got Justified: City Primeval and Deadwood, both earning a fantastic 92% from critics. It’s a really impressive list of quality television!

The actor is coming back for Season 2 of Alien: Earth. He also has several other television projects planned, including a series with Anya Taylor-Joy and the limited series The Five-Star Weekend on Peacock, starring Jennifer Garner.
