Exciting things are happening with The Pitt! Ayesha Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, will be a main cast member starting in season three – that’s great news! However, sadly, Supriya Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan, will be leaving the show after the current season.
According to Variety, actress Supriya Ganesh is leaving the show because her character’s storyline has reached a natural conclusion. She plays a doctor whose residency is ending, and the show has explored what her next career step will be. Fellow actress Harris announced Ganesh’s departure on Instagram, expressing excitement for her future while also saying she’ll miss working with her. Ganesh herself hasn’t commented publicly on the news.
Ganesh is looking forward to stepping away from the intensity of emergency room dramas and trying something different. She told Cosmopolitan in January 2026 that she’d love to work on a project that’s completely offbeat and imaginative, like a horror film or an independent art film. She also expressed excitement about the growing opportunities for South Asian women in the film industry, noting that while progress is being made, there’s still a long way to go. Ultimately, she wants to push boundaries and play a character that’s truly unique and unlike her role as Samira.
