Spoiler ahead for what happens in the Heated Rivalry book series.
Fans will need to wait a bit longer for the next book in Rachel Reid’s Heated Rivalry/Game Changers series. The release of Unrivaled, which follows Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, has been moved from September 2026 to June 2027. Reid explained in a video on Instagram that Parkinson’s symptoms are making it physically challenging for her to write, and she wants to ensure Unrivaled is the best it can be. She shared that recent life changes have limited her writing time, but the quality of the book remains her top priority.
The seventh book in the series will show Shane and Ilya navigating life as a married couple, now that their relationship is public. They’re even joining the same hockey team! While fans are excited for them, some in the hockey world are still upset about their relationship. A popular podcast called Top Shelf and the #TakeBackHockey movement are leading the criticism. The book promises to show Ilya and Shane finally being open about their love, but facing their toughest test yet.
I’ve noticed that when things are going well, life often throws in some challenges to even things out. For me, that’s meant my Parkinson’s symptoms have increased, making it harder to physically write. I’m much slower now, and I need to adjust and deal with this new reality instead of avoiding it. Thankfully, my fans have been incredibly supportive, letting me know they’ll stick with me—perhaps even while enjoying a rave or two!
