Fans were curious how the new Malcolm in the Middle series would handle the absence of Erik Sullivan, who played Dewey. The show revolves around Malcolm being caught up in his family’s chaos, and Dewey’s a big part of that. It turns out the new Dewey, played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, will appear via video chat. The first trailer for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair shows Lois giving Hal a shave while on a Zoom call with Dewey, bringing him back into the family dynamic remotely.
The trailer then centers on the main conflict of the four-part series: Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) trying to keep his peaceful life, while his family repeatedly oversteps his boundaries. He explains, “My life is great now, I just have to stay away from my family!” But his peace doesn’t last long, as chaos ensues. Even Malcolm’s girlfriend, Piama Tananahaakna (Emy Coligado), believes he should reconnect with his family and let his daughter (Keeley Karsten, from The Fabelmans) meet them. The drama unfolds when Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10.
