Hatsune Miku is preparing for a massive appearance in Tokyo! Organizers are planning the biggest Miku ever created for the city’s New Year’s Eve celebration.
If you were amazed by the two-meter-tall Hatsune Miku gaming PC, you won’t believe how much bigger this new project is!
On December 31, 2025, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building will become a giant canvas for a spectacular digital art display. A huge image of Miku will be projected onto the building, creating one of the largest projection displays ever seen.
This location already holds a world record for its amazing projection technology, having previously displayed huge images like Godzilla and characters from Evangelion. Now, a virtual idol is joining them for another record-breaking spectacle.
Largest Miku ever to perform New Year show
I’m so excited for the New Year’s countdown as part of Happy New Year Tokyo 2026! It’s going to be an amazing show with tons of performances, but the best part? Hatsune Miku is headlining with a totally new, immersive experience created just for a projection-mapped performance. I can’t wait!
A dance show with Hello Kitty and her friends will perform alongside breakdancing star Shigekix, blending popular culture, energetic street dance, and exciting digital effects.

Mika Ninagawa and the EiM team designed a stunning show for Miku featuring animation, lasers, and music projected onto a massive 127-meter surface. Though her precise size hasn’t been revealed, the scale of the projection means Miku could appear incredibly large – potentially dozens of stories high – as she appears over the city at midnight.
Admission is free, but you’ll need to register. If you can’t make it to Tokyo, a live stream will be available, so fans everywhere can watch the show.
