Julian Gerighty, who was the executive producer on The Division at Ubisoft, is moving to Battlefield Studios, Massive Entertainment has confirmed.
Ubisoft stated they are sad to see him go, but his contributions will continue to be felt at Massive, and they plan to keep delivering the experiences he helped build to players for many years.
I was a little worried when I heard Julian Gerighty was leaving, but Ubisoft quickly reassured us fans. They said the talented people who actually built the Division world are still on board and totally dedicated to keeping all the games – The Division 2, Survivors, Resurgence, and even the upcoming Division 3 – moving forward with the same big plans they always had. So, that’s a relief!
Gerighty announced his departure with a statement saying he’s ready for a new challenge, though he’ll be keeping an eye on things as he moves on to his next adventure.
As a huge Division fan, I was so excited to hear that the future of the game is looking really good! The developers are clearly working hard on some amazing things, and I honestly can’t wait to see what they’ve been up to. Here’s hoping The Division continues to thrive – good luck to the team and to all of us players!
Julien Gerighty led the development of both The Division and The Division 2, and most recently served as creative director for Star Wars Outlaws. In 2023, he was promoted to executive producer for the entire Division franchise, but during his time in that role, development of The Division: Heartland was stopped. Now, the team is working on The Division 3, which Gerighty says is looking very promising.
It’s currently unknown what position Gerighty will hold at EA and Battlefield Studios. Their latest game, Battlefield 6, launched in 2025 and quickly became the best-selling game in the US, holding that position through November. However, the release of its second season update has been pushed back to mid-February.
