Ryan Murphy is keeping busy, and the trailer for his latest show, The Beauty, is now available. It’s both visually stunning and unsettling.

FX Networks shared a sneak peek of their upcoming series, The Beauty, starring Bella Hadid, Ashton Kutcher, Evan Peters, and Rebecca Hall. Disney+ has confirmed that the thriller will launch with three episodes on January 21st, available on both FX and Hulu. Here’s what the show is about:

FX’s series, The Beauty, explores the unsettling underbelly of the high-fashion world when several international supermodels start dying in shocking and unexplained ways. FBI agents Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett are dispatched to Paris to investigate. Their investigation leads them to a disturbing discovery: a sexually transmitted virus that turns people into seemingly perfect physical specimens, but at a horrifying cost.

With a dangerous epidemic sweeping the globe, Jeremy, a man on the fringes of society, finds himself caught up in the turmoil. He’s on a quest for meaning as investigators chase leads across cities like Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York, trying to prevent a catastrophe that could change the course of human history. ‘The Beauty’ is a fast-paced international thriller that explores the question: how far would you go to achieve perfection?

“The Beauty” is inspired by the comic book series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. The story centers around a deadly, sexually transmitted disease that makes people incredibly attractive, and follows detectives as they uncover a dark conspiracy connected to it.

Murphy’s newest project features a star-studded cast, including Amelia Gray Hamlin, Ari Graynor, Ben Platt, Billy Eichner, Isabella Rossellini, Jessica Alexander, Julie Halston, Lux Pascal, Meghan Trainor, Nicola Peltz Beckham, Peter Gallagher, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jaquel Spivey, Jon Jon Briones, and John Carroll Lynch.

Last year, Murphy explained how the story of The Beauty relates to recurring themes in his shows. He noted that he’s consistently explored beauty culture throughout his career, starting with Nip/Tuck, and often incorporates body horror, particularly in American Horror Story.

The Beauty premieres on January 21 on FX and Hulu with its first three episodes.
