Teyana Taylor’s memorable red-carpet fashion event could potentially continue as a series or movie. She’s actively talking with director Paul Thomas Anderson about a follow-up centered around her character, Perfidia Beverly Hills, from “One Battle After Another.” In an interview with IndieWire, Taylor confirmed she’s passionately urging Anderson to make it happen, stating she’s ‘begging him’ to develop the project further.
Details about the potential Perfidia series are still being worked out. Taylor mentioned casually discussing ideas with Paul, specifically wanting to explore what Perfidia was up to during the 16-year gap in the story. A key element, she feels, would be scenes featuring both Perfidia and Willa. To really satisfy her vision, the spinoff needs to cover a significant period of time, similar to OBAA, including Perfidia’s journey to Mexico and the aftermath of Willa’s involvement in the protest.
We’ve seen successful spinoffs before. Remember how the Super Bowl featured a first look at the Brad Pitt and David Fincher project continuing the story of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with The Adventures of Cliff Booth? John Turturro even made a film centered around his character from The Big Lebowski. And of course, there’s Frasier, the popular spinoff of the original Frasier series from 1993. This new show has the potential to be a major awards contender.
