A surprising team-up is coming in July! Comic book fans will soon see characters from Street Fighter crossing over with heroes from The Valiant Universe in a new comic book series.
Bleeding Cool recently posted IDW Publishing’s plans for July 2026, including a special crossover event. The comic will feature a showdown between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Bloodshot, and several different cover designs showcase them battling each other. While the specific release date isn’t set, it’s expected to arrive in stores in July. IDW is promoting this as a surprising and exciting team-up between two popular brands from the 90s.
Street Fighter’s Cammy Battles Bloodshot in Surprising New Crossover Story
A new comic book, Street Fighter vs. The Valiant Universe, is bringing together two powerful heroes! Cammy, from the Street Fighter series, will team up with Bloodshot, a super-soldier enhanced by nanites. Both characters have a history of being used as weapons, but now they’re free and joining forces to take down a Shadaloo base in Africa!
In addition to the main story, this issue includes an 8-page backup featuring a battle between Ninjak and Dhalsim. IDW describes this adventure, created by Timmy Heague and Rocio Zucchi, as a fantastical duel. This one-shot comic is a collaboration between Alien Books, Valiant Comics, UDON Studios, and Capcom.
If you’re a fan of Street Fighter and don’t know about the Valiant Universe, it’s the world where all the Valiant Comics stories happen. Popular titles include Rai, Bloodshot, Ninjak, X-O Manowar, Eternal Warrior, and H.A.R.D. Corps. Like the new Street Fighter movie, Valiant also had a film adaptation – 2020’s Bloodshot, starring Vin Diesel. While it had potential, the movie wasn’t a commercial success.
The popular video game Street Fighter has been adapted for the big screen a few times. The first movie came out in 1994, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Kylie Minogue as Cammy. A second film, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, followed in 2009, featuring Kristin Kreuk in the lead role. Now, Paramount Pictures is planning a new Street Fighter movie, set to be released on October 16th.
Cammy Returns Later This Year in New Street Fighter Film Reboot
Cammy, the popular character from Street Fighter, will appear in both an IDW comic book crossover with Bloodshot this July and the upcoming Street Fighter movie reboot from Paramount later this year. Thai-Australian actress Mel Jarnson has been cast as Cammy, building on her previous acting experience.
The Street Fighter movie stars Justin Whalin as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The story follows Chun-Li as she enlists Ryu and Ken to compete in a martial arts tournament, where they’ll face off against the villain M. Bison, played by David Dastmalchian (known for his roles in Oppenheimer and One Piece).
