Although the final episode of Stranger Things Season 5 has already been released, many fans were hoping for an extra, hidden episode. However, a new report suggests that won’t be happening.
A recent report from The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things concluded with its eighth episode, “Chapter 8: The Rightside Up,” which premiered on Netflix on New Year’s Eve. The report clarifies that there is no hidden ninth episode, and creators Matt and Ross Duffer have stated this marks the end of the show’s run and the cast’s involvement.
Matt Duffer explained that the way the show ended, with Mike closing the basement door, was intentional. It symbolized the definite end of the story for all the characters – Mike, Eleven, Joyce, and Hopper. He emphasized that there are no plans to continue the series, as it was always meant to be a coming-of-age story. Closing the basement door represents the characters leaving childhood behind and stepping into adulthood.
What are the rumors about Stranger Things Season 5’s bonus episode?
Fans of Stranger Things are known for creating theories, but recently one idea has gained a lot of traction. Called “Conformity Gate,” the theory suggests that the show didn’t actually end with the final episode of Season 5. Instead, fans believe the ending was a deception created by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who may have trapped the characters in a false reality.
The idea was that the true finale would unexpectedly drop on January 7th, a week after the aired finale. But that episode never came out, and it probably won’t. This theory gained traction mainly because many fans were disappointed with how the show concluded its final season.
