The creators of Stranger Things have hinted at revealing what happens to Eleven, but jokingly said fans will have to wait two decades after the show ends to find out.
The ending of Stranger Things sparked a lot of debate among fans. While some wished more characters had died, others believed the story wasn’t truly over, leading to online discussions about ‘Conformity Gate’. The biggest question, however, was whether Eleven survived or if she found a way to live a normal life.
Fans hoping to learn what happens to Eleven will have to wait a long time – the show’s creators say they’ll reveal her story in 20 years!
Duffer brothers joke that El’s fate will be revealed in 20 years
On the YouTube show Happy, Sad, Confused, creators Matt and Ross Duffer said they aren’t ready to share what happens to Eleven at the end of the story. However, they hinted that answers might be revealed in about 20 years for those who are curious.
Josh Horowitz playfully pointed out that David Chase waited two decades to explain the ending of The Sopranos, then jokingly asked if we should expect a similar wait to learn what happens to El.
Ross jokingly said that if they were still discussing Stranger Things in twenty years, he’d finally share all the behind-the-scenes details. He hopes the show remains popular for that long, saying, “That would be great, and then I’ll say everything.”
The Duffer brothers were likely just teasing fans, so it’s uncertain if this will actually happen. However, if they follow the lead of David Chase and The Sopranos, we might eventually learn the truth about El. It seems we’ll have to be patient.
